Which of the following does not come under regenerative endodontic procedures?
• Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) have been defined as biologically based procedures designed to replace damaged structures such as dentin, root structures, and cells of the pulp-dentin complex.
• This new treatment modality has emerged as a treatment alternative for these teeth that, in addition to healing of apical periodontitis, aims to promote normal pulpal physiologic functions.
• These include continued root development, immune competency, and normal nociception, as seen in some published cases.
• Thus the ultimate goal of these procedures is to regenerate the components and normal function of the pulp-dentin complex to promote tooth longevity and function.
• The three key elements of tissue regeneration, namely, stem cells, growth factors, and scaffold.
• Apexification on the other hand is formation of a calcified barrier in immature teeth with necrotic pulps that cannot undergo further root development.
